The mostly all-residential Town of Flower Mound, Texas, situated along Grapevine Lake between Dallas and Fort Worth, features a wide variety of beautiful neighborhoods. Conveniently located in the middle of Flower Mound real estate are four phases of a subdivision called Sherwood Estates. These Flower Mound TX homes started popping up on the market in the early 1990s and today we find some of the wonderful brick and stone homes in Flower Mound’s resale market.
In addition, Sherwood Estates features mature landscaping, fabulous schools, and easy access to employment. Flower Mound is deemed Best Place to Live in Texas where a state-of-the-art activity center is opening in 2008. The nationally recognized Flower Mound hike-and-bike trail system includes the Pink Evening Primrose Trail that travels from Stone Creek Park through the Sherwood Estates subdivision and moves on to Tealwood Oaks Park.
Sherwood Estates homes are priced to sell. For example, looking a sampling of these Denton County homes for sale in 2008, four out of five have asking prices under $300,000. They are running between $90 and $106 a square foot! The spacious homes in Sherwood Estates feature 2,700 to 3,400 square feet of beautiful living space on large Flower Mound land lots that allow only five or six homes per acre. Sherwood’s street names are right in tune with the Robin Hood’s theme: Squires, Birchwood, Ainsley, Forest Glen and so forth.
The subdivision is served by the top-rated Lewisville Independent School District which operates the Gardenridge Elementary School, Shadow Ridge Middle School, and Flower Mound High School for students. Several private schools such as Liberty Christian School, Coram Deo Academy, and The Highlands School are also options. Of a long list of colleges and universities in the Metroplex, the University of Dallas is the closest to the community.
Since the opening of the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport in the heart of the Metroplex in the 1980s, this “town” has been one of the fastest-growing. Striving to retain a small-town atmosphere with a rural feel, there is a “Town Council” instead of a “City Council” and many more cozy references to the thriving Town that is now home to more than 70,000 people. While adding master-planned communities and secluded lakeside streets, the Town has accommodated the growth beautifully. Stands of trees and open spaces—as well as the huge mound of flowers that settlers referred to when they found the special place—are preserved and enjoyed by residents and visitors alike.
The Town features a Parker Square shopping district but everyone knows that an infinite array of options for shopping, cultural and sporting events, fine dining, health care, professional services, and places to work are somewhere within 45 minutes of their driveways. The DFW International Airport, in fact, is only 15 minutes away—great for quick vacations and employment opportunities.
