Owning a home in Flower Mound, your family will find it easy to relax and invigorate yourselves along the 30 miles of paved hike/bike trails flowing around the town.  Some trails lie entirely within the borders of larger parks.  More trails, however, reach out through natural greenway corridors to connect a series of parks, Flower Mound subdivisions and neighborhoods, schools, and businesses.

The Town’s trail system started in 1989 as a 3-mile segment developed with a grant from the Texas Parks & Wildlife.  At this point, a Trails Guide published online provides residents of Flower Mound TX homes the information necessary to map out hike-and-bike options in the community.  The town’s website charts distances and recommended routes, distances, starting and ending points, parking availability, and points of interest throughout Flower Mound real estate

The trails are named after indigenous flowers.  Bluebonnet Trail, Indian Blanket Trail, Lazy White Daisy Trail, Pink Evening Primrose Trail, Purple Coneflower Trail, and Texas Yellow Star Trail.

Bluebonnet Trail begins in the east part of town in Gerault Park and Bakers Branch Estates subdivision and move west to Shadow Ridge Park and Foxborough Hollow subdivision.  Picking up in Bluebonnet Park in the Town View Estates subdivision, the trail continues along Northshore Boulevard to Northshore Park.  Parts of the trail continue west through the Wellington subdivisions all the way to Skillern Road.

Indian Blanket Trail goes north and south.  From Wichita Trail and Wellington subdivision, it leads to the Bridlewood subdivision.  New portions of this trail are in the works.  Indian Blanket also heads from Westchester subdivision to Westchester Park.

Lazy White Daisy Trail also runs east/west in the northeast corner of the Town.  From Prairie Trail Park to Grand Park and Grand Park Estates to the Shops and one to Waterford Park Estates and then Country Meadows Addition.  And there’s more to come.

Pink Evening Primrose Trail goes north/south in the easternmost part of town.  It forks and branches past Timbercreek Park Addition past the middle school to Leonard Johns Park and continues to the creek and Parker Square Park and curves around to Timbercreek Park.  Several future segments are included in the master plan.

Purple Coneflower Trail mostly travels east/west and is the longest trail, was the first multi-use trail, and began the entire trail system.  It connects Wilkerson, Rheudasil, Stone Creek, Lawson parks, and passes the Forest Park subdivision.

Texas Yellow Star Trail flows along the south side of FM 1171 from Town Hall west to Churchill Drive with segments traveling south at Yucca Drive, FM 2499, Churchill Drive, and Old Settlers Road where a segment also goes east/west south of the high school and moves through the Wellington subdivisions.
