New Activity Center for Residents of Flower Mound Homes
By The Buehlers and Associates
Almost with abated breath, the residents of Flower Mound real estate are anticipating the Summer 2008 opening of a brand new Flower Mound Community Activity Center. “Living and serving Flower Mound since 1986, Darla and I are proud to see this world-class facility open in Flower Mound," explains Kurt Buehler. "The CAC joins our linear park system, our Equestrian trails, and neighborhood amenities to make Flower Mound truly a place to raise our children."
Located at 1200 Gerault Road north of Spinks Road—central to the Flower Mound real estate and neighborhoods in northwest Dallas—the Community Activity Center will be easily accessible to all Flower Mound residents.
Flower Mound real estate’s popularity has surged in the last ten years, creating a need for a recreational center and sports facilities. Discussions began in 1999 and in a 2002 bond election, the voters and owners of Flower Mound real estate made possible the $14 million 70,342 square-foot structure for the Community Activity Center as well as two other projects already in use: the Chinn Chapel Soccer Complex and a baseball and softball complex called Bakersfield Park.
The center’s architectural features make a big statement with an urban-ranch feel. The defining design blends with the architecture of the town hall, the library and the main fire station. Visit the CAC website at www.flower-mound.com/cac to look at the sketches, watch a replay of the January 2007 groundbreaking ceremony, in addition to current movies showing the construction progress.
The CAC will offer a long list of amenities. The wealth of activities and classes will accommodate every age group. Take an art class or a dance class. How about tumbling or tai chi? There will be a fitness area, a teen area, a senior’s room, an indoor running track above the gym, a party room adjacent to the indoor pool and a 9,000-square-foot outdoor water park with slides, a vortex pool, the lazy river, and children’s play area. Additional rooms for meetings, sporting activities, educational activities, sports clubs, and small organizations around town will also be welcome. The staff of six fulltime and several part-time employees will ensure that participation in activities at the CAC is organized, clean, and safe for everyone.
As a tremendous asset for years to come, the CAC is a positive statement of healthy Texas community life in the making.
